Inspired by sight seeing and walks through galleries, Ron Turner paints landscapes and cityscapes, capturing the world in abstract waves of blue and gray oils. When painting landscapes, Turner boosts the color, foliating his trees with bright blues and pinks. Employing wet on wet techniques to alter his colors, Turner paints quickly, creating mist-veiled scenes that are part memory, part invention. The technique is, in a way, a reclamation of power, as oils can take days, sometimes weeks to dry. A teacher of music and art, Turner is dedicated to helping others, and finds himself learning in the process. “I enjoy putting my feelings and creativity into what I do,” he says. “I’m a giver. I have always enjoyed helping others.”
