Of course, sometimes even the best and most innovative of techniques won’t help – because
sometimes it can be the conditions which are tricky! Naret Lake, in Switzerland, is 2500 meters
above sea level, and so even in June (when this photo was taken) and despite the sun, the water
temperature was about 2°C. We had to get the whole shoot done in an hour, because after that
neither I nor my model could feel our hands and feet! Remaining any longer in the water would
have been very dangerous. Once again, though, I feel that the shot I achieved was worth the effort
involved. That is the beauty of underwater photography – the stimulation of the challenges, the thrill
of overcoming them, and the satisfaction of the final result.
