Conrardy paints purely
nonrepresentational,
abstract works that are
carefully scrubbed of
any allusion to or echo
of real world images.

Because the paintings have no recognizable earthly signifiers,
they are able to simultaneously be flat and contain infinite
space. The viewer is drawn in and must begin to speak the
wordless, depthless language of the work – the language
of Conrardy’s aesthetic. Though the compositions are free-
form and amorphous, there is always something for the
eye to rest on. Focal points emerge from nothing but visual
elements.
Charles Conrardy was born in Racine, Wisconsin and spent
many years in California before settling in Prescott, Arizona.
He has experimented with numerous painting styles, from
Cubism to traditional Realism. He is a veteran of the Air
Force and a lifelong artist.
