Salt Air A and Salt Air B
by Sarah Otts
In the collection of
Nancy and Kevin Race, New York, NY
Having just moved from a traditional home in Atlanta to a contemporary apartment in New York City, we felt that we
needed to purchase more contemporary, abstract art. Usually, we tend to buy artwork that we absolutely love, knowing
that it will fit somewhere. However, in this case, we needed something soothing and cool for our bedroom. Salt Air A and
B were the perfect fit.
Kevin and I first saw Salt Air A at Agora Gallery during a Chelsea art exploration.
After admiring the painting at Agora Gallery, Kevin surprised me and purchased it for my birthday. Once we hung it in the
apartment, we realized we just had to have Salt Air B as well!
We were not familiar with Sarah Otts before purchasing the work, but were thrilled to learn that she is fellow southerner,
and we also share her love for the beach.
We were primarily attracted to the colors in these paintings, along with the sculptural texture from the use of the palette
knife. I love how Sarah Otts paints with so many variations of blue/green, using warm colors for the focal point. The addi-
tion of gold leaf was very intriguing to me as well.  The pieces are incredibly soothing to live with, which is an important
element in a New York City apartment!
The artwork still resonates with us today. As it is by our bedside, it is the first thing I see in the morning and the last at
night. It really just makes me happy. As an artist myself, I think that is the highest compliment an artist can receive.
Agora Gallery was very professional and easy to work with.  When we decided we wanted the second painting, the par-
ticular exhibition in which the painting was displayed had already closed, so they contacted Sarah, and had it shipped
immediately. We are thrilled to have both of the pieces back together.
Orgasme Solaire 022
by Joëlle Kem Lika
Private collection
I love painting and contemporary art. I had seen Joëlle Kem Lika’s work before in a gallery in Paris, so I was already familiar with
her before I purchased this painting. I love her work. I knew Joëlle Kem Lika was going to have an exhibition at Agora Gallery,
so I went to Agora Gallery’s website and discovered the gallery, Joëlle’s paintings, and the other artists in the exhibition.
When considering this work, the price was not a major factor for my choice. I simply wanted a small artwork for this room.
The style of
Solar Orgasm
is modern, lively, and the intense colors go perfectly well with the style of this place.
Initially, I was attracted by the energy of this painting. The richness and vibration, along with the color variations of red and pink,
with a tiny touch of blue and black, all come together in perfect harmony. This painting makes me feel happy and joyful. I can
spend my time discovering all the subtleties and beauty of this work time and time again.
It gives me the same feeling as if I am admiring the sea or a beautiful sunset; it absolutely lights up my apartment.
