Night Time Village, Oil on Canvas 36''x36'' Night Time Village, Oil on Canvas 36''x36'' Christine Drummond’s exquisite award-winning paintings are an unvarying celebration of life. Infused with her experiences while growing up in Rio de Janeiro, Drummond’s paintings feature the people, villages, gatherings and natural features of the tropical climes. There is a timeless rhythm to her works that is related to the rhythms of life, an equal rejoicing in both the habitual tasks and flamboyant revelry of humanity. Within each work, created mainly with oil on canvas, there is an attention to detail and a brilliant variety of color that sets her work apart in the contemporary art world. Further adding to Drummond’s dynamism is her luxurious application of paint, building layer upon layer in delicious, creamy strokes with a brush or palette knife in an All-over painting approach to composition. She possesses a visceral response to painting; she feels the rhythmic lapping of waves and fresh drafts of tropical breezes while creating a piece.

“When I complete a painting, my strongest wish is that those who see it will be drawn into it and want to be part of the happy atmosphere,” Drummond states. Her works have been exhibited frequently in group and solo shows since 2002, from Paris to Sao Paulo and Barcelona to New York, earning enthusiastic praise from critics and gallery goers alike. Drummond lives and works in the USA.
