Rythme Electique, Acrylic on Canvas 36''x24''
Cary Griffiths’ powerful explosions of color on canvas bring the Abstract Expressionist movement into a decidedly contemporary age. Imparting his own unique aesthetic to the seminal style of painting first made famous by artists like Jackson Pollock, Griffiths paints from within, bringing to life not what he knows, but what he feels. Leaving behind aesthetic theory and artistic doctrine, Griffith connects directly to the surface on which he paints with an intense level of creative focus. As such, Griffiths creates expressions of his creative spirit and energy with living splashes of paint: pure abstraction, free-flowing creativity, and zest for the action of painting itself. Griffiths brings Abstract Expressionism to its most basic and truthful form, allowing color, space, texture, and shape to interplay in a universally appealing composition. His paintings resonate with an almost musical sense of rhythm and energy, as the eye travels from splash to splash and colors playfully sweep upward in a delightful crescendo. Staccato drips precede legato lines, a symphony of colors carefully conducted with the artist’s brush.
After a decade away from painting, Cary Griffiths made a prosperous return to painting in 2000. Recapturing the artistic success that characterized his early career in the 1960’s, the Utah-based artist has recently exhibited his works across the United States and Europe, including group shows in Philadelphia, Salt Lake City, Portugal and London. www.carygriffithsart.com www.Art-Mine.com/ArtistPage/Cary_Griffiths.aspx
